See and remove the hidden data in your photos

Photos often carry hidden details: where you were, what phone you used, and when. Drop a photo to see exactly what it contains, then remove it. It all happens on your device, so the photo never leaves it.

Drop pictures here, or tap to choose them
Photos stay on your device. You can also paste a picture.

Cleaning copies the picture exactly and cuts out the hidden data, then checks the new file again to show what's left. Nothing is uploaded or saved.

Questions

Is my photo uploaded?
No. The file is read and cleaned inside your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is saved.
What can a photo give away?
Photos from phones and cameras can carry the exact GPS location, the date and time, the phone or camera model and serial number, the software used, and sometimes the author's name and a small preview of the original. Sharing a photo online can share all of that.
Does removing metadata change the picture?
For JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF the picture data is copied exactly, so quality is identical. Only the hidden data blocks are cut out. Other types are re-saved, which strips everything but can slightly change the file.
Why is rotation kept?
Many phone photos are stored sideways with a flag that tells apps to turn them. Removing the flag would make them show sideways, so a tiny rotation flag is kept by default. It holds no personal information. You can switch it off.
